The Friends of Fort Abercrombie is a local
non-profit affiliate of the State Historic Society of North Dakota.
Their mission is the historic preservation, reconstruction of, and public
education about Fort
Abercrombie State Historic Site. The Friends of Fort Abercrombie have provided thousands of hours of volunteer time as well as generous financial assistance for the historic fort and museum sites. Their contributions have included the construction of a flag pole and flag mall, lawn-maintenance, small reconstruction projects and assisting the staff of the State Historical Society of North Dakota to overcome operational budgetary shortfalls through the purchase and donation of building materials including paint, lumber, signage and general cleaning materials. The goal of the Friends of Fort Abercrombie is neither to relive nor to glorify the exploits that occurred during the Civil and Indian Wars. Rather, it is to honor and remember ALL of those brave and courageous men and women who gave the “last full measure” to fight and die for what they believed in. For additional information, contact the "Friends of Fort Abercrombie, P.O. Box 114, Abercrombie, ND 58001." |
