Flag Day 2005
Due to unfavorable weather conditions the Kite Flying which had been schedule as part of the Flag Day Observance had to be cancelled. The Evening Flag Day Program with flag retirement ceremonies went on as scheduled in the parks meeting hall.

Flag Retirement

The Naval Reserve Honor Guard cuts the American flag into a field of blue
and strips of red and white cloth.
On the Right: Jim Acker, Interpretive specialist at Fort Abercrombie reads the signifigance of each part of the American Flag.

The strips of red and white cloth have been placed on the fire to be
disposed of. The field of blue with the white stars is displayed in
the background.
On the Right: The field of Blue with the white stars is the final piece of the flag to be burned as part of the proper way to dispose of a United States flag.
