Colt Model 1873 Army Revolver
   
 

This six-shot, single-action revolver utilized metallic cartridges, a vast improvement over the old paper cartridges. The Colt was chambered for the .45 Colt center-fire cartridge. Most of the post-1870 cavalrymen on the frontier and at Fort Abercrombie carried this popular sidearm.
